Hello! My name is Anmol Hajraw (she/her) and I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

I grew up in Calgary and as someone with a South Asian heritage, I understand the unique challenges that many children of immigrants and immigrants face. Whether it comes to navigating familial expectations, experiences of shame and guilt, or the complexities of balancing cultures, I’ve had many people tell me that they got close to going to counselling but gave up when they couldn’t find someone who understood their culture. My goal is to provide culturally sensitive counselling and create an environment where we can honour culture and also discuss ways in which it impacts your mental health. I have worked with the South Asian diaspora in various professional, volunteer and advocacy roles. I am proficient in Punjabi and can provide counselling in Punjabi in addition to English.

I also have a special interest in providing Neurodivergent-Affirming Counselling and have worked within the Autism community for several years. I am currently providing individual and family counselling services for ages 18 and older.

I work with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression and trauma; grief and loss; emotional regulation; self-esteem, confidence and personal identity; relationships and social skills; executive functioning; and other concerns assessed on a case-to-case basis.

I work from an integrated approach with a foundation in Client-Centered Therapy. I believe that my clients are capable of making courageous changes in a supportive environment. It is my role to create an environment where you feel genuinely accepted and supported. There are specific therapeutic frameworks that I integrate into my practice to support your goals. These include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy.

For many people, the decision to seek counselling comes after some thought and deliberation. You might have questions about what to expect and what the process of counselling involves. If you have any questions or would like to see if we’re a good match, feel free to schedule a complimentary consultation. I look forward to getting to know you!

My experiences in counselling and therapy have spanned from working in specialized populations such as children on the autism spectrum, to more broad and general groups through my internship and residency in non-profit counselling centres. I’ve also spent four years working in both a private practice and within an internal employee assistance program of a school board. I have worked with individuals, couples, as well as families to develop strategies for managing experiences in the areas of depression, anxiety, communication difficulties, infidelity, grief, stress management, parenting difficulties, co-parenting after separation, blended family issues, sexual identity, trauma, phobias, emotional regulation, workplace stress, addictions, motivation, self-esteem, goal-setting, and conflict management among others.

Update: Please note that I am currently unable to accept any new clients at this time, but am happy to connect to provide recommendations on who may be a good fit!

Hi! My name is Jiayi Yang (she/her) and I am a student therapist currently completing my Master’s degree in counselling psychology at the University of Lethbridge.

I use an integrated approach in therapy, incorporating modalities such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I approach therapy through a strength-focused lens, as I deeply believe in people’s inherent strengths and resilience and am often inspired by the life stories of the people I have worked with. I believe that my role as a therapist is to assist clients in exploring their feelings and experiences, and to equip them with various tools from different modalities to help them reach their full potential.

Having grown up in China and now living in Canada, I am familiar with the cultural nuances of Chinese society and have personally experienced the challenges of adjusting to life in Canada. Navigating these cultural differences has also given me valuable opportunities to explore who I am and who I want to become as a person. I would love to support you in navigating your immigration journey and finding meaning in it as well.

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in Montreal and have over three years of counselling and support experience in Canada. I have worked with the general public, university students, children and teenagers, immigrants and refugees, and people with disabilities. My interests include various presenting concerns such as anxiety, depression, relation issues, academic difficulties, anger, acculturation stress, and identity issues. I am fluent in Mandarin and can provide services in Mandarin as well.

I understand that finding a therapist is an important and sometimes daunting decision. If you would like to see if we’re a good fit, feel free to schedule a free consultation with me. Looking forward to meeting you!
